Karşılaştırma, C2’de kalıplaşmış orantı ve pekiştirme yapılarına dönüşür.

  • The ... the ... (orantı): The more you practise, the better you get. — iki paralel değişim.
  • All the more/better/worse (bir sebepten dolayı daha da): That makes the news all the more shocking.
  • None the wiser/worse : I read it twice and was none the wiser. (= yine de anlamadım)
  • So much the better : If it's free, so much the better.
  • Comparative + and + comparative (artan): It's getting harder and harder.
  • No/Not any + comparative : He's no better than before.

Bu kalıplarda the aslında tanımlık (article) değil, eski bir ölçü zarfıdır ("o ölçüde"); karşılaştırmalı öbek her iki yarıda da özneden önce gelir: the more you practise.
