Fixed Grammatical Expressions
Bazı yapılar dilbilgisel olarak kalıplaşmıştır: içlerinde eski dilbilgisi (subjunctive, devrik) donmuş hâlde yaşar ve olduğu gibi öğrenilir.
- Be it / be they ... (or ...) : any decision, be it large or small (= whether it is); all members, be they children or adults (= whether they are)
- Suffice (it) to say : Suffice it to say, we won't be going back. (= şu kadarını söyleyeyim)
- Far be it from me to : Far be it from me to criticise, but... (kibar itiraz girişi)
- Be that as it may : = her hâlükârda / öyle de olsa (zıtlık).
- So be it : If they refuse, so be it. (= öyle olsun/varsın)
- Come what may : I'll support you, come what may. (= ne olursa olsun)
Bu kalıplar resmî ya da edebî tonludur; çoğu içinde subjunctive (be) taşır ve parçaları değiştirilmez.
