İyi anlatıcılar tek zamanda kalmaz; zaman kaymalarıyla sahne, arka plan ve canlılık yaratır.

  • Arka plan past continuous, ani olay past simple: I was walking home when someone grabbed my arm.
  • Daha önceki olay past perfect: She realised she had left the door open.
  • Canlılık için historic present: geçmiş olay şimdiki zamanla anlatılır: So I walk in and this guy just stares at me.
  • Şaka/özet anlatımda present simple sık; resmî tarihsel anlatıda past perfect’le katman kurulur.

Kayma rastgele değildir: her geçiş odak ve zamansal katman değiştirir.
