Thematic Fronting
Fronting, normalde cümle içinde olan bir öğeyi (nesne, tümleç, zarf öbeği) başa çekmektir. Amaç vurgu, karşıtlık ve metinsel bağ kurmaktır.
- Nesne öne: That idea I simply cannot accept. (karşıtlık/vurgu)
- Tümleç öne (genelde devriksiz; ama such + be ile devrik gelir): Such was his anger that he left.
- Yer/yön zarfıyla devrik: Down the street came the parade. / Here comes the bus.
- Karşılaştırmalı bağ: This part I understand; the rest I don't.
Fronting, bilgiyi eski→yeni akışına göre dizmeni sağlar: önceki cümleye bağlanan öğe başa gelir, yeni bilgi sona bırakılır.
