-ing öbeği, aynı özneye ait iki cümleyi kısaltarak birleştirir. Etken (active) anlam taşır.
- Eşzamanlı eylem: Opening the door, she saw the mess. (= As she opened...)
- Neden: Being tired, he went to bed early. (= Because he was tired...)
- Sonuç: The bridge collapsed, killing ten people.
İki eylemin de öznesi aynı olmalıdır. Farklı öznede yapı bozulur (dangling participle): ❌ Walking home, the rain started.
